RIMMEL Wake Me Up Foundation

Rimmel Wake me up Foundation in Ivory - £8.99

I bought this foundation last week on a bit of a whim after my old one had ran out. I remember seeing the advert for this and thinking it looked okay and then completly forgetting about it for months-typical me!
When I swatched this it felt very thich and creamy, like other Rimmel foundations I've tried, and of course it has the trademark highly perfumed scent.
This foundation has light reflecting particles which you can't see when applied, though in low light it's quite obvious. I prefer my foundations to be as invisible as possible so I wasn't really keen on this factor.
The finish is quite sheer, I need a lot of coverage so this isn't great for me but it could be good for summer as it feels more like a moisturiser. I'm trialling Estee Lauder Double Wear right now so this has gone in my backup makeup box for now.
I will use this again as I hate wasting foundation but it's probably not one I would buy again. I may get one of the less sparkly rimmel ones for summer though.

How do you rate Rimmel foundations? Have you tried Wake me Up?

Real Techniques Stippling Brush

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Stippling Brush, £11.99, Boots
"Create a flawless base with this beautifully designed Stippling brush by Samantha Chapman, which helps you build coverage gradually for an airbrushed, high definition result"
After hearing the hype over the blogosphere about this range I decided to pick up the Stippling Brush last time I was in Boots. This brush has been a saviour for me since I have had it, I couldn't go back to my old Topshop foundation brush now. The great thing about a stippling brush is that it can be used for foundation, blusher, bronzer and powder, so cuts down the need for other brushes.

My makeup looks so light while still providing the coverage I need when I use this brush, and I've been recommending it to all my friends! It dosen't absorb any product and is easy to clean. Such a lovely product!

Sneak Peek

Not posted in a while as I've had some sad family news, so here is a little peek into whats coming soon. Reviews from Enrapture, José Eber, Corioliss, Real Techniques and Rimmel. I'm so excited to share these with my readers and hopefully I will get some outfit posts out too. I'm starting my new job tomorrow so I'm going to try and sort out some kind of schedule rather than try to whack out posts in a rush that end up being of bad quality.
Hope everybodys had a lovely Mothers Day, I know mine has been spoilt!

EDIT: "I hope everybodys had a lovely Mothers Day, I know mine has been spoilt!" Meaning I know my Mum has been spoilt by us all, not that the day was spoiled because of the news!

Nicki Minaj for O.P.I Mini Set

Nicki Minaj for O.P.I Mini Set in Pink Friday (Pink), Fly (Turquoise), Did It On Em (Lime), and Metallic 4 Life (Black with glitter). Available at BeautyBay.Com

Picked these up last week online as I'd never tried O.P.I polishes before, and there's no way I'm going back to other brands after trying these babies! The colours are very fast drying and last for ages while keeping their shine. I also bought 'Wear Something Spar-Kylie' from the KardashionKolour collection at Nicole by O.P.I which was full sized so I've had an oppourtunity to try out the standard brush, which makes application so easy and quick! These mini's go on well considering the brushes look like the kind notorious for leaving streaks! Metallic 4 Life (Black with glitter) dosen't photograph very well - I need an SLR in my life! - but it's a gorgeous shade. When I looked at these online I thought Pink Friday would be my favourite colour as I always wear pink polishes when I have no nail inspiration but I actually love Did It On Em. It dosen't really suit my skin tone atall but I can imagine it would look lovely with a tan or on darker skintones. It's a fun colour and so summery!

They were precious to me

Topshop Slouchy Top, Topshop High Waisted Denim Shorts, H&M Lace Trim Cycling Shorts(Just Seen) H&M Handbag and Necklace

I can't wait for it to get a bit sunnier so I can wear this! I have been self concious about my legs for as long as I remember, but I am vowing that this Summer will be different. I want to have fun, not worry about how I look!

Saturday 10 March 2012

So don't teach me lessons cos I've already learnt.

Topshop Blazer, New Look Scarf, New Look Vest, Topshop Biker Jeans

This is a pretty typical outfit for me. I've had the scarf since I worked at New Look 2 years ago and its my favourite. When I have nothing to wear all I have to do is get some jeans and a t-shirt and throw this on and I'm done.

I always forget about these jeans, they're too big for me now at the top as I've lost weight since I bought them but you cant tell when I wear a long top. Was debating throwing them out a few weeks ago but I'm so glad I have them now! I hardly ever even wear jeans yet they're in both my outfit posts so far. Eep.

I could use a dream or a genie or a wish.

Topshop Cardi, Primark Top & Primark Jeans

Very boring outfit today as I wasn't going out anywhere. Everybody and their dog seemed to be wearing chino type jeans last in A/W, so I guess I'm a bit late on that one. I've had my eye on this cardi for a while now so I got it on a naughty little spree with my Topshop card last week before work.

This whole outfit is not normally something I would wear but it's nice to have a change every now and again. I'm borrowing my boyfriends tripod at the moment so I'll get a few outfit posts out and see how you like my style. I love other peoples outfit posts but I'm so awkward infront of the camera!

Oh and I also got the Nicki Minaj O.P.I mini's the other day, as you can see in picture 2. My nails are like this for the purpose of my review which is coming soon but I actually think these colours go quite well together as muli-nails so I'm happy to keep them for a few days.

Graduation.

O.P.I Nail Laquer in 'My address is Hollywood', MAC Studio Fix Fluid, Real Techniques Stippling Brush, Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Androgen

Just a quick beauty wishlist as I've not posted in a week. I've had a bad throat infection and have spent my days in bed! I'm feeling much better now though.

I feel its time for me to graduate into the world of 'proper' beauty brands rather than drugstore brands like Mabelline, Rimmel etc. I love the highstreet and will always be a high street girl but I've not yet found a fail proof foundation, something I feel I desparately need right now as I am prone to breakouts and feel my skin holds me back and dents my confidence.

I've heard good things about MAC Studio Fix Fluid an am planning on going to get a sample next time I'm in Leicester. My skin had always been quite clear throughout my teens but I've been developing some acne around my mouth and neck over the past year or so. I have combination skin so if anybody reading this can think of a better foundation for my skin please let me know in the comments.

This stippling brush is all over the blogosphere right now and after checking it out in Boots earlier today I need it in my life. I currently use the Topshop foundation brush which I like, but this one just seems much nicer and I love the idea that you can use it with blush/bronzer etc too, it would save me carrying around 4 or 5 brushes at a time like I normally do.

I have a few goodies coming in the post soon so I will try to post about those asap and I may start doing a few outfit posts, so keep checking back. :)

Tell Me Baby

We Love Fairground Dress, Topshop Sunglasses, River Island Dress, Topshop Glitter Nails in Razzmatazz, Topshop Nails in Daydream, Topshop Drop Hem Tee, Topshop Bandeau

There are so many things I want out at the moment! I think summery weather just makes me want to shop, most of my clothes are wintery so I struggle to find anything to wear when it's hot! I'm looking for the perfect sundress so I'm hoping one of these could be my answer. I can't wait for summer after all the lovely weather we've had lately, it's just a shame I've been stuck inside at work on 12 hour shifts while the suns been shining!
